If the yellow light of death is blinking on your PS3 console, then you have to understand that there is something wrong with your gadget. It is not a serious problem though. It can be due to a loose cable, overheating, or even a loose hard drive. Once you know the reason for the problem, it is easy to fix it.
When you get this yellow light of death on your PS3 console, try switching off the console. Switch it on only after 30 minutes. This ensures that the device gets enough time to get cooled down to the normal if the problem was due to overheating. After 30 minutes when you switch it on, if you notice that the yellow light does not blink anymore, then you can be sure that the problem was with the gadget getting heated up. As the gadget can get you involved for long periods of time, you may not realize that it is getting heated up. So always keep your gadget in an airy room. Never play for long hours on the gadget in a room without ventilations. It is good if you can sit near the window or in a passage. But make sure that you do not expose it to moisture content. This can damage your gadget.
Even after switching the console on after 30 minutes, if the yellow light of death is still blinking, then it means that the problem is something else. Check the cables connected to the gadget. It is good if you can remove them and reconnect again. This ensures that there is no loose connection. Usually with this step you will be able to fix the problem of the yellow light of death on your PS3.
If the problem persists further then it is the hard drive that might be causing the problem. Take out the hard drive and try reinserting it. You can repeat the step for 2 to 3 times. And if it still doesn’t work, its time to get the console repaired.
You can send the device to the Sony service centre to get it repaired. Detail out the problem and steps you did to repair the device. This can make the work of the service personnel easier and you can get your device in less time as well. Usually the service centres charge you around $150 for the repair, but if you are within the warranty period, you will not have to spend any money on it.
